The Trick Worked!

Here is my menu for the day before – this is what I ate:

Fat Fast Items: Coffee with Half and Half, Cream Cheese, Natural Peanut Butter, Tuna, Mayo, Coconut Oil, Cocoa and a Pickle

A total of 1002 cals divided: 88 fat grams (78%), 18 carb grams (6%), 31 protein grams (13%)

The Trick Worked!

I told you folks I had another trick up my sleeve. I am hesitant to tell you about it, only because it should be used only in the direst of circumstances. If you do some research on it, you will find that there is a lot of negative press about it. It’s not fun, it’s hard, harder than the protocol if you ask me, but it can work.

Only use it with discretion.

Again, this is something that I found worked while I was doing Atkins and would have those weeks and weeks and weeks with no loss, you all know those times I am talking about. The diligence of following a plan, no deviations, and to wake up morning after morning with no loss. That was discouraging.

In Dr Atkins original book, he mentioned the “Fat Fast” – if your an old Atkinsite, you will remember this, but it most consisted of cream cheese and mac nuts. VERY BORING. Over the years, it has been modified to be a bit more palatable. Still, it is NOT easy to do this. It is NOT fun. But it does work, as you can see, I finally got to see the 160′s for the first time in over a month. That feels good, I have to say.

So it worked, what do I do now? I am gonna concentrate on a “maintaining” day today, but I will be sticking to Atkins Induction levels, don’t want to introduce too many carbs into my system too quickly. Tomorrow? I will do another “Fat Fast” and will see where I end up on Saturday.

I have been asked some questions about why I want to get down to LIW – or as close as possible before I start again. This was a mutual decision between the girl I do this with offline. We had already discussed making our 5th round our last. We were gonna go until the HCG tells us to stop. That is our PLAN anyway. How we decided to do this is to do it in short 3 week rounds with 10 day breaks. Being that this is the case, we both want to be at least CLOSE to LIW because there is no wiggle room until we are done. Every pound loss is going to count, and we cannot gain anything in between. We don’t want to spend half the time losing just what we gained. We both feel that 4 lbs over LIW is acceptable, but not 8 lbs over LIW. 8 lbs would take me at LEAST 6 days to lose on HCG, if not more, and with only 21 days on HCG, well, you see the dilemma.

We did however both agree last night that our first injection for round 5 will be on the 12th of April. We did decide that we would both actively work on getting our weight down as close as we can until that date, and come heck or high water we were gonna start. So we established a deadline. Doable I feel.

Mary – I am sure it’s a number of things, and since TOM still hasn’t shown up, I might be able to see another drop soon!

Becca – Do you understand a bit better why we wanted to wait? This will be our final round. No more traveling plans, no more long breaks, just gonna go until done. Question for you Becca – if you are not discipline enough to do the ‘strict dieting’ how on earth are you going to maintain after goal? Will HCG be a part of the rest of your life? Just a thought. Hope the egg day worked for you!

Jan – Do you understand a bit better now why we are wanting to wait until we are closer to LIW? We can’t have this attitude that the HCG will be the answer each and every time. We spend too much time losing what we gained, when that time could be better spent in losing what hasn’t been lost yet. Wait, did that make sense?

Hazel – thanks for the support! I think I shook things up a bit yesterday! YUP! That is the way to show this body who is boss!!!

Jenn - actually getting back into my routines of waking up at 4am! LOL – Being that I ended up at 170, which was the weight I was almost the entire time I was in Cali, not losing on the egg day proved that it was a set point for me and that I needed to do something that my body hadn’t experienced for along while. Shock it into fast ketosis, and that is what I did, get that fat burning back up and RUNNING!

B – thanks for the support my friend. Yes, you knew I had something up my sleeve didn’t you??? And once again, the Bizinator comes thru! LOL

What Constitutes a Load? ? Round 4 – 2nd “Load” Day

Here is my menu for yesterday. This is what I had:

Not much of a load, although I did consume a bunch of calories! Dang those Lemon Bars! So this is what I ate yesterday, no set schedule. A banana, sliver of Red Velvet Cake, some Oreos, some of my Mock Potato Salad, a Lemon Bar, some Fritos, oh yeah, another Lemon Bar! For dinner we had something I have been hankering for for some time, Somen Salad – and then, you got it, another Lemon Bar.

A total of around 1643 calories divided this way: 80 Fat, 168 Carbs, 68 Protein

I have taken down the latest FAQ – I have now two FAQ’s in my possession that I need to work on to get uploaded. By tomorrow I will have those available, as well as putting up a new FAQ question for us to get ready for.

What Constitutes a Load?

I feel I didn’t load yesterday, yet I had over 2300 calories. Funny how odd that number looks. There was a time on Atkins when I was eating anywhere from 2000 – 2500 calories a day, and I was pretty much eating a ton of food. Do you know how much you have to eat in order to get 2500 calories in and not touch carbs? It’s pretty darn hard.I didn’t eat much yesterday, but I had 912 calories alone in those dang Lemon Bars. I have to tell you, JPS outdid herself with these things. I haven’t had a lemon bar for almost 10 years. When I lived near Augusta, GA there was a Fresh Market there, and they had about the best Lemon Bars on the planet, put all others to shame so that when I left that the area, I pretty much gave them up.

Don’t ask me why I had a hankering for them before I started my round 4, but I did and JPS delivered! They are awesome. But here is the thing … each one of those little 2″ x 2″ squares run about 228 calories a piece, eat four of those puppies and you’re up to 912 calories on them alone.

Did they fill me up? NOPE, but almost 1000 calories on that alone? That gave me about 1300 calories to eat on “regular” food. Not much really, when you consider all I ate extra was a little of my Mock Potato Salad and the Somen Salad (oh yeah, forgot about a few fried wontons as well) among other things.

Does that qualify as a load?

To me? Nope. Sure I ate things I wouldn’t normally eat, but did I fill myself to capacity? Nope. Did I gorge? Nope. The mock potato salad and the somen salad with wontons I would have normally eaten during the day. Sure I would never have eaten 4 lemon bars in one day, but that doesn’t constitute a load, does it?

When I compare what I ate yesterday to some of the menus I have had in the past, there is really no comparison, and then reality hits me. I used to eat a LOT of food. Good gracious. If I was FULL on what I ate yesterday, how did I never get full on twice that amount of food in the past???

Shoot, I used to “load” daily before HCG. No wonder I was ‘morbidly obese’ – I ate a ton of food.

So did I load or didn’t I? I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder. It’s nowhere NEAR what I did my first OR my 2nd round. It is sorta what I did for my 3rd round. Just pretty much ate what I wanted with some Carrot Cake thrown in.

Oh well – we shall see yes?

BTW – I feel the HCG already in my system. It’s flowing because my interest in food is waining. I felt it start happening yesterday late afternoon. I love my HCG.

Jennifer – HA! Did you call it today? One pound gain! I am sure it’s from all that salt yesterday, oh yeah, Somen Salad is LOADED with it! Cream Cheese on a lemon bar? Interesting, must remember that little trick for my 5th ROUND! LOL – Good to hear no hunger. But I don’t know if it’s just a 3rd round thing or what, because everyone seems to do really well on the 3rd round! About the no coffee thing? It just happened that way. I am not “desiring” it so why drink it. I am actually really enjoying drinking tea again. Go figure.

Mary – The coffee thing? I really wasn’t trying to kick the habit, it just happened that way. I was really starting to get concerned about my doing coffee on my 4th round because I had really gotten into the cream, but so far I am not wanting it, so we shall see. It’s ON GIRL! LOL

Ewewho – Yup, back among all you LOSERS! Excellent! I can’t wait to see that 100 lb lost moniker! I don’t think it will happen this round, but I can almost be sure it will happen NEXT round! Won’t that be a hoot???

Whew! It worked! WOO HOO!!!!

Ok, so for everyone that wanted to know what little “trick” I had up my sleeve … back when I was on Atkins, there was this little thing you did to break a stall. I say “you did”, well, there was a group of us that did it on the message board I used to belong to. It was called an “egg” day! I looked back on my records from when I was stalled on Atkins to see what I could do to break this pattern I was having and that is what I came up with!

I ate eggs all day. UGH! ROFL – but seriously, I had 4 scrambled eggs cooked in Pam w/Butter, 4 deviled eggs I made from scratch with mayo, mustard, s/f pickle relish, and s&p, and 2 hardboiled eggs mixed with mayo. That’s it, that is all I had ALL DAY! I spaced it out during the day, and was actually very satiated during the day. No hunger, just you can get really sick of eggs quickly.

I knew it would work, so YUPPY FOR ME! I finally get to eat some veggies again today! I am gonna take it easy today, not go hog wild on anything, and I am still staying away from my banana (sulk) but I will have my veggies and that makes me very happy.

Let me also mention, I took a half a bottle of Citrate just to help (move) things along. I felt like there was a huge load of junk down low in my tummy from 3 days of mostly protein ya know?

Before I go any further, I have to share with you what a kind and generous spirit did for me yesterday. I was actually quite speechless when I found out how much people really do care out there. One of my good morning buddies sent me a surprise in the mail! I couldn’t have been more blown away!

OMG! I just about cried when I saw that! I was like, HOW PERFECT!!! That card was written JUST FOR ME!!!

BUT THAT WASN’T ALL!!!!

A while ago on the YahooGroups message board there was a discussion about Harley’s and Pigs, and I mentioned in passing that I collect pigs and that I have this “thing” for Harley’s. Well LOW AND BEHOLD!!! Look at what I am the proud owner of??? OMG! I am still in awe of this prize to add to my collection! LOOK AT IT! A Harley Davidson Hog Piggy Bank!!! It’s in the shape of a Harley Gas Tank!!! Martha, I cannot express the gratitude I have in my heart for such a thoughtful and caring gift. This is going to be displayed very prominently in my home and I will happily tell everyone the story!!! THANK YOU MARTHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just beside myself with joy people!

First I get such a magnificent gift, and then I lose two pounds! How much more joy can this girl have???

BUT WAIT! There is MORE! Another one of my good morning buddies, Ju, sent me a care package on Friday with the most awesomest tank and jacket! Well, I wore the tank to the fair on Saturday, and I actually had my husband snap a picture! OMG! I am NOT afraid of the camera now! So here I am modeling this new TANK! (just fyi – I used to HATE showing my arms! NOW??? Not so much! ROFL)




On that note, I am gonna skip some of my ‘other’ discussion until tomorrow. I cannot bring a downer on such beautiful thoughts today. My day will be full of sunshine and rainbows (and veggies) – I do have lots to say, and finally I will have some time this week to take those subjects up. I promise, don’t give up on me people!Have the most awesome SUNSHINE and RAINBOWS day!!!!
