When It Is Dark Enough, You Can See The Stars

When it is dark enough, you can see the stars. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

HUH???

Came across this recently, and for some reason it just clung to me.  Let’s not even consider the direct meaning of it, who hasn’t been in a totally dark place and seen stars so bright they could help you read?!?

But let’s think a little deeper.

Sometimes we need to step away from something, turn everything off, put off all distractions for us to see clearly the solution to an issue.  Often, if we do that very thing, it can be dark and scary at first.  But soon your eyes will adjust to the dark and slowly the stars will shine.

Often we live such busy lives day to day we don’t take the time to truly let go of the light that we are used to and really delve into the darkness that we are afraid of facing – who knows what might happen?  You might just be granted the light to help you through a certain obstacle that has been plaguing you.  There are things out there that can only show up when it’s dark.

Future Self

PromptImagine yourself five years from now. What advice would you give your current self for the year ahead? (Bonus: Write a note to yourself 10 years ago. What would you tell your younger self?)

Geesh, do I have to?  ::giggle::

Let’s see here, in five years I will be 53 – still young enough to have fun, but way old enough to know better.

So ok, what advice would me at 53 give to me at 48?

Quit thinking that you are old – geesh woman, you are just starting to get to the fun years.

You have been at the threshold of greatness so many times in your life, but this next year you are about to embark on, you will finally be aware of all that held you back for so many years and you will finally BLAST through all that angst and become the woman you were meant to be.

You are finally ready to step into your power – it’s been on the back burner for so many years – now is the time – 2011 is going to be YOUR year, be confident that your intuition is clear and it leads you effortlessly and courageously into the future.

Always remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and that small steps lead to big outcomes – live each day doing something small that gets you closer to your goals.  You will be amazed at how far you can go if you just do a little at a time.

You made a wise decision in hiring a coach to help you, you are going to be amazed at the power of this one decision, plus the benefits of all the others that are joining you on that journey – that mastermind group was a BRILLIANT decision!!!

Make sure you show your gratitude each day, for that lovely piece of artwork you call your daughter, for the blessing of having your mother alive, for the friends you have made in the past and those that you will make in the year to come, for your family that loves you and wishes you the best – WRITE in that journal – WRITE your goals down – WRITE WRITE WRITE -  you are good at it, show it off and don’t cower from it anymore!

BONUS:

Hmmmm – not ready to tackle writing a note to myself 10 years ago, nope.  I think I might just be a little mean on that one.  ::giggle::

As promised, some accomplishments of 2010:

  • My newsletter!
  • Regular writing in blog again!
  • Settled in a wonderful home!
  • Pretty darn self-sufficient!
  • Made it to the CK Retreat!
  • Signed up for Coaching!

Imagine that it’s five years from now, what advice would you give yourself now for the upcoming year?

Try

PromptWhat do you want to try next year? Is there something you wanted to try in 2010? What happened when you did / didn’t go for it?

Do or not do, there is no try. ~ Yoda

I cannot be the ONLY one that thought of this one?  ARGH, I really don’t like the word “try” – you are setting yourself up for failure when you say “try”.  It’s either you do or you do not do.  It’s a choice.

I have been “trying” to get a newsletter together for 3 years – NOT DONE until I just did it.

You want one a little closer to home?

I have been “trying” to do a clean P2 for almost 2 years now – NOT DONE – let’s see, I “tried” about 8 different times in 2010 to start a round, and each time I let something get in my way.  What happens when I “try”?  It doesn’t happen.

What happens when I commit?  It happens – it happened from June 2007-September of 2008 – I was COMMITTED to protocol, and the results were that I lost and lost well and fast.

So instead of what to “try” for 2011 … let’s say, what will I commit to in 2011?

I commit to reaching 140 lbs.

Just WATCH me!

What do YOU commit to do in 2011?
