Sneak Peak – RAW – Marinara over Zoodles

Got lots of excitement on the Raw Cookbook announcement yesterday!  Thanks for that.  Just want to share that I will be working on this with a fellow HTA Member – her username is DebbieK if you want to look her up on the forums.  What a sweetheart she is.  She has lost 80 pounds on hCG with the tried and true method of Dr. Simeons, although she is basically Raw Vegan.  When she found out I did a round using all RAW she decided she would try another round to see how it went doing Protocol RAW, and I am happy to say she is having STELLAR losses (just like regular Protocol).

This woman is great, she is very detailed and is keeping excellent records of her protocol and so we will be sharing the results of the experiment in the upcoming RAW COOKBOOK.  I decided to give you a sneak peak of one of the recipes she tweaked so that it would fit with RAW PROTOCOL – so those of you out there trying RAW, give this a shot and let us know how you liked it!

This is now directly from Debbie – ENJOY!!!

Marinara Over Zoodles

This recipe is good for P2 – only if your doing “RAW PROTOCOL”

This recipe was inspired by Alissa Cohen’s recipe in her book, “Living on Live Food“.

I didn’t know how this would turn out given that I wasn’t adding much oil and I only used a few sun-dried tomatoes because of their high calorie count. But it turned out great ~ I’ll definitely have this often on P2.

Zucchini Noodles (Zoodles)

Zucchini Noodles

I use this gadget* to make spiraled zucchini. We’ve actually been doing this for years as former Somersizers. I do up the zucchini in the morning and leave it for several hours to air dry, on a tray with a cotton kitchen towel.

Marinara Sauce

200g fresh tomatoes (I love using Campari tomatoes from Costco)
35-40g sun-dried tomatoes, soaked
1 clove garlic (leave skins on if you use a high speed blender)
handful of fresh basil (to taste)
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)

Put sun-dried tomatoes in a bowl and cover well with water, which you’ll use to thin the sauce later, so do not discard.

After the tomatoes are rehydrated, place everything in the blender with a bit of the soak water. Blend and add more water until desired consistancy.  I added quite a bit of water as I wanted it on the thin side. Taste – if you’d like you can add a bit of stevia. I added it, but I don’t think it was needed.

Here are the numbers on the batch I had for dinner

  • zucchini noodles 308g = 49 calories
  • sauce using 2t evoo, 210g tomatoes, 38g sun-dried tomatoes = 218
  • total = 267 calories

This actually made more sauce than I needed, it can be cut down.

*I bought mine at QVC. This is the cheapest price I’ve seen for this – other sites are easily twice this much. If you use if for nothing more than zoodles, it’s money well spent. I’ve also ordered one for my *** for her birthday and another I just ordered tonight for our friend who is on P2.
